Women in Tech: Breaking down gender barriers and driving innovation
According to 2022 statistics, women make up only 17% of the tech workforce in Germany.
Despite these shocking statistics, women play an essential part in the tech industry, and increasing their representation is crucial for several reasons.
- x role model
- x developer
First, diversity in the tech workforce leads to greater innovation and problem-solving. When teams are composed of individuals from different backgrounds and perspectives, they bring a range of ideas and approaches to the table, leading to more creative and effective solutions.
Selin our Frontend Engineer, on the image, told us about the importance of female representation and inclusion at the workplace:
“To any women who are considering a career in software, I would encourage you to go for it. The tech industry needs more diversity, and your unique perspective and skills can make a real difference. Don't be discouraged by the stereotypes and misconceptions about what it means to be a developer. It's not just about writing lines of code; it's about creative problem-solving.”
Why are women in tech so important?
Second, women in tech serve as role models for the next generation of girls and young women. When girls see women succeeding in technology careers, it can inspire them to pursue similar paths, breaking down gender stereotypes and paving the way for future generations.
While the gender gap in tech is a global phenomenon, some countries have made more progress than others in increasing the representation of women in the industry. According to recent data, the country with the highest percentage of women in tech is Bulgaria, where women make up 33% of the tech workforce. Other countries with relatively high levels of gender diversity in tech include Australia, Brazil, and France.
At Liftric, we believe that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords, but essential values that drive innovation and success. We believe that diversity in our workforce is a competitive advantage and therefore it brings unique perspectives and skills.
When we asked our Senior Frontend Engineer Katja about how to start and grow as a developer, she said:
“My advice to future female coders would be to stay curious and persistent. Don't be afraid to ask questions, seek out mentorship and support, and take advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow. It's important to remember that the tech industry is constantly evolving, so staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments is key. And most importantly, never let anyone tell you that you don't belong in this field. With hard work and determination, you can achieve anything you set your mind to."

Ultimately, our goal is to build a company culture that celebrates diversity, fosters innovation, and enables all of our employees to reach their full potential. We are proud to support women in tech, and we believe that by doing so, we are not only creating a better workplace but also contributing to a more equitable society.
